The Gasboy Story

About Us

Started by a previously indentured servant, James Wilson, way back in 1819, a trained painter and glazier, founded William M. Wilson's Sons on old Philadelphia's "Merchant's Row." For a century, this small company, named in honor of the founder's father, specialized in painting, glazing, and wholesale distributing.

In the early 1900s, Wilson's Sons became a steel drum distributor, and added petroleum dispensing equipment in the early 1920s. In 1928, they manufactured their first pump, adopting the Gasboy brand name. Their development of the first combination pump and tank package for farms in the 1930s, was the beginning of a company history of innovative solutions designed to meet the unique needs of their customers.

During the 40's, 50's and 60's, Wilson's Sons has continued to be the industry leader in the development and advancement of petroleum dispensing products. The first continuous flow hand pump, the first compact electric pump designed for consumers, the first direct drive transfer pump, the first automatic fuel management system, and the first integrated POS system are just a few of the many innovative products designed to meet the changing needs of the market.

From the first direct-drive small transfer pump in the 1950s, to the first microprocessor-based card-activated fuel management system in the 1970s, to the first electronic registration fleet dispenser in the 1990s, Gasboy provided groundbreaking products to enhance customer business and profitability.

In 1986, due to the world-wide recognition of its Gasboy brand name and an international focus, Wilson's Sons officially changed its name to Gasboy International.

In 2002, Gasboy International was purchased from Tokheim Inc. by Danaher Corporation and became part of the Gilbarco family of companies.

In 2016, Gasboy became part of Fortive Corporation as part of a successful spin-off of Danaher’s test and measurement and industrial businesses.

Now as it nears its third century, Gasboy continues to push the boundaries of innovation as a leading supplier of fuel management systems and fleet dispensers.
