I came to Gilbarco in 1980 because I was looking for a job. I’ve stayed for the last 30 years because I found so much more. What I had discovered was a company that not only allowed me to grow but also actually encouraged me to. I was able to move to different positions as my skills grew and the needs of the company changed. After a few years, I decided I wanted to further my education. Due to Gilbarco’s tuition reimbursement program, I could concentrate on the studies and not worry about how I was going to pay for school. During this period I worked fulltime and attended college at night. I graduated near the top of my class and won many awards, including “Outstanding Management Department Student” in my senior year. After graduation I stayed with Gilbarco because opportunities were available internally that would allow me to utilize my enhanced skill set. Throughout the years I have been involved with Gilbarco’s company newsletter, volunteering opportunities in the community, and social activities spearheaded by our Social Club. Yes, thirty years ago I came looking for a job, but what I found was so much more.
